Detroit Food & Entrepreneurship Academy

School-Based Leadership Program
2017

Overview

The Dresner Foundation provided Detroit Food & Entrepreneurship Academy (DFA) with a $75,000 grant to support their School-Based Leadership Program.

Details

The DFA’s School-Based Leadership Program guides students each year through the process of building their own triple-bottom-line food business, which considers people and planet in addition to profit. DFA breaks the cycles of hunger, poverty and lack of food access by engaging young people in the lifelong skills of culinary arts, business and entrepreneurship, food systems, and financial literacy. Students undertake the challenges facing Detroit and build powerful solutions all through food.
