The Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation has awarded Downtown Boxing Gym a $20,000 grant to strengthen students’ literacy skills through the production of a zine.

Details
Students aged 12 to 18 will strengthen their literacy skills through the production of their own zine, which is a short magazine that focuses on the interests and concerns of a subculture or population within a particular geographic area. The zine project allows DBG students to learn about a myriad of subjects, gain practical skills, apply varying art forms, and discover the historical context and importance of personal storytelling and community creation.
