Overview

The Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation has renewed support for the Downtown Youth Boxing Gym with a $200,000 grant over two years. The funds will sustain the transportation program, allowing the students to safely get to the gym and return home.

Details

Downtown Youth Boxing Gym develops citizenship in urban youth through academic support, a boxing program, and a connection to the community through voluntary service.

All year long, the Downtown Youth Boxing Gym transports students to their facility on Detroit’s east side. During the school year, the students are picked up at school and safely delivered back to their homes. In the summer they are picked up and dropped off from their homes. Transportation is crucial to serving students from all over the city.
