The Dresner Foundation provided the Michigan State University- Community Music School Detroit a $40,000 grant to expand and create equal access to high-quality, sequential music education for 50 Detroit children and youth from low-income families over a period of two years (2017 and 2018).

Details

Michigan State University’s Community Music School (CMS), the outreach arm of the MSU College of Music, makes a direct impact on low-income and high-achieving students by challenging, supporting and inspiring them through high-quality and rigorous educational experiences. The Detroit-focused engagement is coordinated out of the Community Music School-Detroit (CMS-D).

Michigan State University – Community Music School in collaboration with community-based partners will provide music lessons for a full semester and a summer camp experience for approximately 50 Detroit children and youth.
