The Dresner Foundation provided Forgotten Harvest $100,000 grant for its Healthy Food, Healthy Kids Summer Feeding and School Pantry Programs.
Details
Forgotten Harvest’s Summer Feeding Program will: 1) pick up nutritious fresh food from 800+ local donors; 2) acquire additional fresh product from national sources to balance out locally acquired product and provide best nutritional mix; 3) utilize volunteers to pack lunches and also repack bulk food shipments for distribution to mobile pantries; 4) distribute 105,000 lunches to 40 agency partners with summer youth programs; 5) provide 895,000 pounds of additional food via mobile pantry distributions. The School Pantry Program will rescue and distribute 1.1 million pounds of food to eight School Pantry partner sites throughout the school year.
