Details

The Rouge Education Project (REP) is a school-based environmental education program involving elementary, middle, and high schools from across southeastern Michigan.  Teachers undergo training events throughout the year and are provided with equipment and bus funding (when available) to organize an annual field trip to the banks of the Rouge River. There, students evaluate chemical, biological, and physical parameters to determine overall stream health and report back their data.  It provides young people with a new sense of appreciation for their hometown river and the Great Lakes region as a whole, as well as an enhanced understanding of multidisciplinary science.
