The Dresner Foundation provided InsideOut Literary Arts Project a $150,000 grant over three years to grow the capacity and reach of Citywide Poets.

Details

Citywide Poets – a written and spoken word community for advanced high school students to gain professional development and leadership skills through weekly afterschool creative writing collectives and robust publication and competition opportunities.

InsideOut will increase the number of youth participating in high quality writing and personal development opportunities by: 1) adding a new after-school site in a currently underserved neighborhood; 2) hosting an annual youth poetry festival at Wayne State University for 20 teams of high school poets from across Michigan for workshops and competitive bouts; and 3) identifying a Youth Poet Laureate and three Ambassadors annually through a competitive application process to represent the region’s youth.
