Michigan Education Excellence Foundation

The Detroit Promise Path
2018

Overview

The Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation has awarded Michigan Education Excellence Foundation (MEEF) $190,000 over three years for the Detroit Promise Path (DPP) Coach at the Henry Ford College and incentives for the students.

Details

DPP ensures that any Detroit-resident student graduating from a high school in the city of Detroit will have a tuition-free path to an associate degree, technical certificate, or bachelor’s degree at any one of six participating community colleges or 17 four-year universities.

In addition to free tuition, DPP directly supports students with wrap-around services as they transition from high school to higher education. Post-secondary learning (degrees and certifications), the development of career-readiness and job skills ultimately lead to acquiring employment that provides a living wage at minimum.

A DPP Campus Coach assists a small caseload of students with academic and personal support. Enrolled students who meet the program requirements receive a monthly financial incentive to offset expenses, such as bus passes, not covered by financial aid.
