Increasing Career Pathways in Veterinary Medicine for a Thriving Workforce & Economy
The Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation has awarded Michigan Humane $500,000, over 5 years, to provide career pathway exposure, employment and mentorship for youth and young adults to develop future veterinary talent.
Nationwide, a shortage of veterinary talent is impacting access to veterinary care. As pet ownership continues to rise, the gap between need and availability will grow. This exacerbates the difficulty of accessing veterinary care many families are already facing due to poverty and other challenges. Additionally, veterinary medicine suffers from a lack of diversity among veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians.
