Life Skills & Job Readiness Mentoring and Keys to College programs
The Dresner Foundation awarded Winning Futures a grant totaling $75,000 to implement and expand their Life Skills & Job Readiness Mentoring and Keys to College programs during the 2015 -2016 school year.
Winning Futures, based in Southeast Michigan, uses an evidence-based curriculum and novel techniques that engage and encourage student’s personal and professional growth. These programs prepare young people to be self-reliant and successful through life skills, strategic planning, mentoring, and scholarship programs. Since its founding in 1994, it has served approximately 40,000 youth.
Its Life Skills and Job Readiness Mentoring program pairs teams of youth with a mentor that meet weekly at school to discuss job readiness skills, educational and career goal setting, and a five-year plan for success. Keys to College helps high school juniors and seniors explore their passion and strengths and choose continuing education option to fit their needs.
