Detroit Institute of Arts

DIA Teen Council
2018

Overview

The Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation has committed to the Detroit Institute of Arts a three-year, $126,030 grant to sustain and expand the DIA Teen Council (DIATC).

Details

The DIA Teen Council gives a diverse group of young adults from around the city of Detroit an opportunity to use the DIA as a space to explore, challenge, celebrate, interpret, and question. Their continued museum exposure will help build understanding that the museum is a comfort zone for socialization, growth and learning. The DIATC will test new museum programs for teens and provide insight into work protocols and career development for its members.

Funding will support outreach to diverse communities, DIATC stipends and transportation costs, live performances at the events, and annual summits.
